16 Best Films On Netflix UK
1- Enola Holmes (2020)
This film was made very well for me, it does not make anything forgettable, it makes me a film that does not try to impersonate Sherlock and make him a woman, but rather to create his own character. They do not delve into the character of Sherlock, but it does not become something badly done or cartoonish, he is a character portrayed in a more subtle way, but preserving what Sherlock is, and if they put him next to Enola solving the mystery.
2- Marriage Story (2019)
Noah Baumbach directs this telling of a divorce. Starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson who were both really good in this movie. This movie is available on Netflix if you want to watch it and I highly recommend you do, this is such a heartwarming and inspiring movie about divorce. The movie tells the story of Charlie (Adam Driver) and Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) who are going through a divorce and they don’t want them to ruin their son’s life.
Driver’s character is a stage director and Johansson’s character is an actress. The movie also stars Ray Liotta, Laura Dern, and Wallace Shawn. This movie almost made me cry sometimes. Best Films On Netflix UK. In a movie about divorce, you would expect to see a lot of argument scenes but there is only one and it is intense. Dern is really good in this movie as the lawyer and Ray Liotta.
3- The Irishman (2019)
The Irishman begins with an intro that if you’ve never seen a Martin Scorsese movie before might strike you as an introduction to any type of movie. A camera moving through the hallways of what appears to be an old people’s home. A masterpiece of the highest order. This proves that Scorsese has the skill and longevity to be considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
He is able to return to the gangster genre with a brand new outlook that makes this film wholly original. The Irishman examines the ideas of death and time that makes Bergman look like Spielberg. Pesci, DeNiro, Pacino are at the top of their game. The use of aging, whether it be from CG or makeup, is overall incredible.
Thelma Schoonmaker’s editing is as phenomenal as always, but this time specifically, brilliantly paces this movie to feel as swift as The Godfather did despite the lengthy runtimes. Movies on Netflix UK. One of Scorsese’s best and in turn one of the best of all time.
4- The Dig (2021)
This is one of those films that are soothing for me to watch. Knowing that characters like Edith, kind of poetic, existed and continue to exist turns on a light. She tells excavator Basil Brown that she “feels” something lays beneath the mounds on her property. Of course she is an experienced archeologist and of course, as Daniel Kahneman says, she has the “expert intuition” but she says she feels, nonetheless.
She pursued this undertaking not only because as an archeologist she could recognize the patterns but also because she was compelled by her inner forces to try and create something very much worth experiencing and not just for herself.
5- Call Me By Your Name (2017)
This movie has done complete justice to Aciman’s beautiful writings. This movie casts an unbreakable spell on anyone who watches it. This is a very beautiful movie about love and acceptance set in the gorgeous Italian countryside. The main character Elio is the right amount of precocious and awkwardness to b completely charming.
The fact that he has such an accepting family at a time when homosexuality was still publicly frowned upon is quite refreshing.
6- The Wife (2017)
The film explores the complicated arrangement between a man hungering for success in his craft, and the sophisticated arrangement with his wife, who, besotted by him, chooses quiet easily to trade away the world, Netflix Films UK, willing to remain unseen and unacknowledged. The stoic silences that punctuate the couple’s relationship are peppered by familiar dialogues that every couple will resonate with deeply, giving the film a very human presence.
7- The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
This film enjoys a wealth of acting talent which just gets better and better as the movie progresses. Sacha Baron Cohen in particular gives a surprising performance that I didn’t know he was capable of. While I could probably criticise the way this film cherry picks heavily what it chooses to show you from a trial that lasted 180+ days (if I remember the caption correctly), creating a story that is heavily one-sided, it only serves to better.
8- Annihilation (2018)
So many people who want everyone to know how smart they are kept on bashing the inaccuracies of the science in this film. These are the kind of people who will dismiss someone’s entire argument in a debate if they misplace an apostrophe or use improper grammar. They are avoiding the point (usually because they missed it entirely) and pretty much just letting us all know exactly how much student loan debt they managed to accumulate.
While the sci aspect of the sci-fi certainly does play a significant part in the plot, these people seem to forget that, for the most part, fictional films are meant to be entertaining at the very least.
9- Roma (2018)
They watch the world through their lens. Cuarón and Iñárritu are turning the cinema by returning to the once much-admired skill of mise-en-scene, returning to the screen under Cuarón and Iñárritu’s lead, Best Films On Netflix UK, is respect for REALITY and wresting art form its elements, not those cooked up in computers or framed in comic books.
What you get is a laugh a minute combination of slapstick and old school vaudeville banter with the audience. The juxtaposition of the classes with both experiencing laughs a minute farce scenes was at times side-splittingly funny I think in particular of Firmin’s willy bouncing up and down during the comedy Kung Fu pastiche this.
10- Wonder Woman (2017)
Petty Jenkins catches the nerves of the audience with the feel and tone of her storytelling. Gal is stunning and Chris is charming as usual. This is the best DC movie & I hope DC will bring more brilliant movies to the World. The story is taken from DC comic Wonder Woman but it has been changed a little. DC is known for serious & dark stories but directors can’t show all that in the movie.
Gal Gadot has played a wonderful role in Diana and the story behind the screen is also mind-blowing. Hats off to her acting & her seriousness to play the most important role of DC World. Movies on Netflix UK. Welcome to the Family Gal! Highly recommended.
11- His House (2020)
The horror genre is an especially congested niche as it takes special movies and shows to stand out. While this is a standard fare for ghost hauntings, I thought the context/backdrop was rather fresh.Brilliant horror film that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
The acting was superb. Non-predictable film with so many twist and turns. A married African couple escape the dangers of their village and make it to Britain where they’re given a house by the government. In order to fit in.
12- Dolemite Is My Name (2019)
Dolemite Is My Name is arguably the best Netflix-produced film of the year thus far. A comical, endearing and uplifting biography which tells the story of Rudy Ray Moore, Netflix Films UK, a down-on-his-luck comedian/actor/singer/dancer (and whatever else he would turn his hand to in order to make a name for himself) who eventually finds fame portraying a semi-fictional pimp named Dolemite in his stand up shows.
13- Klaus (2019)
This movie is absolutely phenomenal. This is the only Christmas movie I have ever fallen in love with. The story progression and character development are superb. The 2D animation almost makes the story and lesson the movie is trying to teach seem more genuine. It’s incredible and makes you actually feel something.
14- To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018)
This movie is absolutely fantastic! Not only did Jenny Han write an epic book series with such an (in my opinion) relatable main character, but it became one of the best movies I have ever seen! Netflix Films UK. This movie completely shows what my personal experiences of finding love are like.
Lara Jean Song Covey writing love letters to all of the boys she has ever loved is a great way to express everything you want to say on paper, and she clearly did want them to be sent.
15- About Time (2013)
About time by Richard Curtis is a romantic comedy set in England which analyses different kinds of relationships. This great secret was told him by his father, with who Tim has a special bond, the most touching one of the whole movie. By the way, Tim wants to find the love of his life and will use his ability to succeed in this research.
This is a special movie, which wins the heart of all of those people who have a romantic heart. The acting is great, and even more, is the direction that managed to make the audience completely involved in the story of this redhead who is Tim.
16- Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan continued to conquer the decade with consistent hits starting the decade with one of his best films (2nd best in my Nolan list). The concept of dream-sharing was extremely fresh and was brilliantly executed. The movie was extremely fast-paced, action-packed, demanded extreme attention and eventually rewards it.
This movie is one of the most rewatchable flicks ever made and has aged phenomenally. This is everything 16 Best Films On Netflix UK | Movies on Netflix UK 2020. Hans Zimmer absolutely deserved an oscar for this because the music complimented the film so well.
